General Terms & Conditions of Travel
Version: 2026 | Applicable law: Swiss law | Place of jurisdiction: Zurich, Switzerland
These General Terms and Conditions of Travel ("T&Cs") govern the contractual relationship between you (the "participant" or "customer") and Almar Conservation by Mariana Alvarez Cañedo, a self-employed professional registered in Switzerland (hereinafter "Almar Conservation").
A binding contract is formed upon your unconditional written, telephone, or in-person registration. Upon conclusion of the contract, Almar Conservation will send you a written confirmation by e-mail. These T&Cs form an integral part of the contract and are binding for both parties from the moment of registration.
The scope of services is set out in the service description on our website and in your individual travel documents. Any special requests or additional agreements are only binding if confirmed in writing and without reservation by Almar Conservation.
Our services commence at the destination airport in Mexico. The participant is responsible for organising and financing their own travel to and from the destination airport, as well as for obtaining any required travel documents, visas, and vaccinations.
Programme changes may become necessary due to unforeseeable circumstances such as adverse weather conditions, force majeure events, or the requirements of local authorities. In such cases, Almar Conservation will endeavour to offer an equivalent alternative activity. No right to a refund arises solely on account of such changes.
Almar Conservation conducts guided group expeditions with a maximum of 6 participants. Almar Conservation reserves the right to define a minimum number of participants for each tour.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, Almar Conservation will contact all registered participants and inquire whether they are willing to pay a supplementary fee to ensure the tour can proceed. If all participants agree, the date will be confirmed immediately. If no agreement is reached, Almar Conservation reserves the right to withdraw from the contract no later than 21 days before the scheduled start of the tour, and will refund any amounts already paid in full.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, all prices are per person in Swiss Francs (CHF) and include only the services described in the relevant tour programme.
A deposit of 50% of the total tour price is due upon booking. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 60 days before the departure date. If the balance is not received by the due date, Almar Conservation is entitled to withdraw from the contract.
If you book fewer than 60 days before the tour departure, the full invoice amount is due immediately upon receipt of the booking confirmation.
Prices may be subject to adjustment in the event of: (a) subsequent increases in transport costs, including fuel surcharges; (b) newly introduced or increased government levies, taxes, or fees; (c) changes in exchange rates; or (d) government-imposed price changes (e.g. changes to VAT rates). Almar Conservation will notify you of any price adjustment as soon as possible. You are entitled to withdraw from the contract without charge if the price increase exceeds 10% of the agreed price.
Unless otherwise agreed, travel documents (programme details, meeting points, practical information) will be sent to you by e-mail after receipt of your deposit. Documents are not provided in paper form.
You are responsible for ensuring that you hold a valid passport and any required visas, travel permits, and vaccinations for travel to Mexico. Almar Conservation accepts no liability for consequences arising from missing or invalid travel documents.
Cancellations, changes, or rebookings must be notified to Almar Conservation in writing by e-mail. The decisive date is the date of receipt of your written cancellation at the booking office. Cancellations received on Saturdays, Sundays, or Swiss public holidays are deemed received on the next working day.
In the event of cancellation by the participant, the following cancellation charges apply per person, in addition to any non-refundable deposit (unless a substitute participant is found; see Section 8):
• More than 60 days before departure: Loss of deposit only (50% of total price)
• 60 to 31 days before departure: 50% of the remaining balance, in addition to the deposit
• 30 to 0 days before departure: 100% of the remaining balance, in addition to the deposit
Almar Conservation strongly recommends that participants take out comprehensive travel cancellation insurance prior to booking, particularly if not already covered by private insurance.
If you are unable to participate, you may nominate a substitute participant before the start of the tour. The substitute must meet all requirements of the tour (health, fitness, age) and must accept the contract on the same terms and conditions. Any additional costs resulting from the substitution (e.g. rebooking fees charged by service providers) shall be borne jointly by you and the substitute participant. A processing fee may apply.
If you voluntarily leave the tour before its scheduled conclusion, no refund of the tour price will be made. Costs for unused services will only be reimbursed if and to the extent that Almar Conservation is able to obtain a credit from the relevant service provider, net of an appropriate processing fee.
In urgent cases (e.g. a serious illness or injury suffered by you during the tour, or the death of a close family member), the expedition leader will assist you as soon as possible in arranging an early return journey. Any costs incurred are your responsibility.
Almar Conservation may cancel or modify the tour if force majeure events (such as natural disasters, epidemics, pandemics, civil unrest, or official government measures) make it impossible or unreasonable to carry out the tour as planned. In such cases, Almar Conservation will notify you as soon as possible and endeavour to offer an equivalent alternative tour or date. If no alternative is acceptable to you, Almar Conservation will refund all amounts paid by you, and no further liability shall arise.
Almar Conservation is not liable for cancellations or changes caused by force majeure, official orders, or any circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
When travelling to Mexico, participants are expected to respect local customs, traditions, wildlife, and natural habitats. The expedition leader has the right to exclude any participant who seriously disrupts the group, fails to comply with reasonable instructions, behaves in a way that endangers themselves or others, or does not conform to the legal requirements of the destination country. In such a case, the participant will be responsible for all costs of return travel, and no refund of the tour price will be made.
Good physical health and fitness are prerequisites for participation in wildlife expeditions offered by Almar Conservation. By completing your registration, you confirm that you are in good health and do not have any medical condition that would prevent your safe participation. You are responsible for consulting your physician before booking if you have any doubts.
Almar Conservation is not liable for health events arising from pre-existing medical conditions. Participants are strongly advised to take out health and accident insurance valid in Mexico.
Almar Conservation holds the required liability insurance for its activities as a self-employed tour operator in Switzerland.
Almar Conservation is not liable for accidents, damages, or losses that are not attributable to its own gross negligence or wilful misconduct. In particular, Almar Conservation is not liable for:
a) Failures, omissions, or acts caused by the participant before or during the tour;
b) Unforeseeable or unavoidable failures of third-party service providers not under the direct control of Almar Conservation;
c) Force majeure, extreme weather conditions, or events that Almar Conservation and its service providers could not have foreseen or prevented despite the exercise of due care.
Almar Conservation's liability for property damage is limited to the amount covered by its liability insurance. Almar Conservation accepts no liability for the loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings during the tour.
These T&Cs and the contractual relationship between the participant and Almar Conservation are governed exclusively by Swiss law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for any disputes is Zurich, Switzerland.
Last updated: 2026. Almar Conservation reserves the right to update these T&Cs. The version applicable at the time of booking shall govern the contract.
